First Space Tourist is on His Trip

HAYAT-E NO Dennis Tito, the well-known California billionaire, will now make history as the first tourist in space, but at a high personal cost. Russians have agreed to take him to space along with 2 other Russian astronauts for a fee of $20 million.

Tito had prepared rigorously for his space journey. The U.S.' National Aeronautical and Space Administration finally agreed to allow the insistent billionaire to make the trip because American officials are afraid Russians, who are cash-strapped, would allow more and more billionaires in space at cheap prices.

The Russian spacecraft, Soyyuz TM 32, blasted into space at 12:07 on Saturday from a space base in Kazakhstan called Buykonor.

Iran's Share in Ozone Destruction at 0.6 Percent

ENTEKHAB A session of Asian ozone experts started in Tehran on Saturday, April 28 and is to last for four days. Environmentalists from various Asian countries, the World Bank and the Montreal Multi-Purpose Fund are discussing ways and procedures of transmitting experiences and technology for protecting the environment to developing countries. The Montreal Fund's Executive Committee has seven members from developed and 7 from developing countries. Members serve for a term of one year. Inefficient Sport Administrators Cause of Recent Defeats

QODS Ali Nazari said that the sport defeats suffered recently in Olympic and other international sports events by the country were caused by mismanagement problems. A member of the Cultural Commission of Majlis (Parliament), Nazari said that he can give 35 other minor reasons for the defeats.

The MP, who is also the head of a fact-finding committee to investigate causes of Iran's recent defeats in international sports events and thereby avoid more future embarrassment, said the only way to solve the problem is the creation of a new sports and youth ministry. He said that if the project is approved by Parliament, efficient officials would be appointed to posts in the new sports ministry.

Alleged Employer Exploitations Should Be Solved Legally

ABRAR-E EQTESADI An across-the-nation congress of workers convened by Labor House announced that the most common concern of workers in the country is job security and that the government should come up with a legal procedure to deal with workers' complaints against employers in the country.

The congress also called for housing privileges for workers and asked the government to solve the serious housing problem faced by workers across the country. It also asked Parliament to support the "tax exemption" proposal in favor of workers.
